Cisco has announced plans to acquire Accedian, a move aimed at expanding its capabilities in troubleshooting and resolving network performance issues for private 5G networks and mission-critical enterprise applications. By integrating Accedian's advanced network monitoring technology, Cisco strengthens its Network Assurance portfolio and positions itself to support carriers in meeting strict quality-of-service commitments.

The acquisition, expected to close in the first quarter of Cisco's fiscal year 2024, will bring Accedian’s Skylight Analytics SaaS into Cisco’s suite of assurance solutions. Skylight Analytics leverages machine learning to deliver detailed visibility into network performance, helping service providers extract actionable insights from the vast amount of data generated by their cloud and data center networks.

With three-quarters of the world’s largest communication service providers (CSPs) among its customers, Accedian is a significant player in the private 5G market. Its technology, integrated with Cisco’s existing platforms such as ThousandEyes, is expected to help CSPs meet service level agreements for essential applications including remote healthcare and enterprise operations.

This strategic addition supports Cisco’s ongoing plans to deliver a comprehensive, cloud-based Networking Cloud service, which will unify management and security across its product portfolio. IDC estimates suggest that private LTE and 5G infrastructure market will grow to $5.5 billion by 2027, reflecting robust demand for advanced networking solutions.

In related news, Cisco also introduced two new Silicon One application-specific integrated circuits designed for high-performance switches and AI deployments, further expanding its offerings in the data center and AI infrastructure markets.
